Kitab matan tersebut diulang berkali-kali, hingga mengerti apa yang terkandung dalam kitab matan tersebut. Setelah itu, baru melihat\/ mengkaji kitab Syarahnya.<\/p>\n<p>Metode yang ditawarkan Kiai Sholeh Darat ini, hampir dipakai oleh kebanyakan pesantren salaf di Nusantara, termasuk pesantren sarang, yang ketika ada santri masih mubtadi, pemula, maka mereka terlebih dahulu akan mengaji kitab-kitab matan, seperti kitab al-Jurumiyah dan Taqrib.<\/p>\n<p>Kitab-kitab matan tersebut tidak hanya dikaji saja, namun dihafalkan sebagaimana metode Syaikh Umar Syatha, yang memerintahkan santri-santrinya untuk menghafal kitab matan, baik nadzam maupun Nasar, di antara santri andalannya adalah Syaikh Ahmad Khatib al-Miangkabawi dan Syaikh Abdul Hamid al-Qudsi.
