Kini beliau sudah meninggalkan kita, Allahu yarham. Kini pakar sejarah ulama Nusantara Haramain yang masih hidup adalah Syaikh Shodiq Asy&#8217;ari (Makkah). Alhamdulillah sudah mengambil sanad dari keduanya.<\/p>\n<p>Syaikh Asy&#8217;ari (ayah Syaikh Shodiq) adalah yang mengganti nama Nahdlatul Wathan menjadi Nahdlatul Ulama ketika organisasi tersebut hendak menghadap Raja Arab Saudi dalam misi &#8220;Komite Hijaz&#8221;. Karena kalau memakai nama Nahdlatul Wathan itu ada unsur politiknya, rentan ditolak, sehingga harus diganti supaya dapat bertemu sang raja.<\/p>\n<p>Nama ini yang akhirnya diusulkan oleh Kiai Mas Alwi sebagai nama organisasi Islam Tradisionalis. Mereka sepakat menerima nama Nahdlatul Ulama.
